Working on the European and Local Elections

Last weekend we were delighted to supply production and technical crew for RTE’s coverage of the European and Local Elections. Our people included vision mixers, statisticians, graphic operators, data in-putters, hospitality people and production assistants and they were involved in getting the figures out on air in both studios and on Outside Broadcasts

Setting up hospitality in RTE studios.

In RTE, we had a team of eight production runners, who were all kept busy whilst the count was on going. Rachel Hannon and Aisling Grennan, our Hospitality Hosts, met the political panelists, brought them to make-up and generally helped them settle in before their busy day of interviews, ensuring they had everything they needed before going live on air.

Our Production Assistants were on the ball as always, making sure that everything ran smoothly and keeping the busy crew and the guests fed and watered. Early on Saturday they photocopied and distributed the tally figures and later in the day and on Sunday they circulated the updated number of votes of the election candidates.

Deirdre Ryan was the Vision Mixer at the Count Centre in the RDS throughout the weekend working long days with NEP Outside Broadcasts and RTE Staff to broadcast election results to the nation, along with analysis and live interviews with candidates and politicians alike. Statistician, James McBride was also in the RDS number crunching and working out percentages etc.

Our staff enjoyed being at the heart of the action over the busy weekend and we were delighted to have our people out on such a momentous occasion.
